Yuskevich was a beast. Always thought he was at his best in the playoffs or important games.

Great read......Boivin was disapointing as was Sittler.........but I remember watching that draft and them showing Snider Jr going off on Aubut on the draft floor.....maybe the most intriguing draft story in Flyers history....great TV.

I never would have guessed the Flyers were the first NHL team to draft a Soviet player.......cats and dogs living together

Good read; long, but good.

Also.

On Oct. 7, 1994, the 39-year-old former hockey star was found dead in a street near the warehouse where he worked. Foul play was suspected but the case was never solved.

Heard on the radio that the ice rink for the Ukraine team Donbass was burned down.
Moscow Spartak is closing down its team this season as the bank that sponsors the team is out of funds. What a mess.

Arena was just looted and damaged... they said they could repair it in time for the season, but none of the other teams want to travel to Ukraine.

Yeah, sad about Spartak... they've been under financial pressure for awhile. The Prague team is also pulling out for next season due to money issues, too.

The league isn't losing any teams, tho. Jokerit, and the new Sochi team are joining up this year, and they're getting Lada back.

I can't get away from it

Edirt: it was a live scrimmage for team USA on espn. They didn't finish the game after it happened. Players were too shaken up.

I wanted to get your medical opinion on whether you think he can come back. George is one of the top 10 players in the nba. Really sad

Do not want to derail the thread. But as former Ukrainian, who lived in Kiev and had served in the Soviet Army in Donetsk, I can tell you that you do not have accurate information to judge the situation.

And as I said, I will not derail this thread any further (you can PM me if you want to discuss).

Speaking of Sochi, that was where MLeighton was signed to play but had to withdraw because of illness. The guys on the radio thought he had a very serious medical condition. Anyone heard anymore on this?

I mean I still have a lot to learn, as exemplified by a few days ago. All the stuff that REALLY matters I learn this year and next!

Either way, my clinical diagnosis is a fractured leg.

Moreover, my guess is he'll be back but he's gonna be a lot slower....nothing you couldn't have come up with yourself. Didn't Kevin Ware play again? His was way worse.

This is why I don't care about this stuff. Well...it's not that I don't care, it's that I don't have any opinions on it. They'd all be off base and be drawn from assumptions and only seeing the surface. And that's not right.

People ask me what I think and I say "I have nothing educated to say on the matter".

And no, I will not go read news articles about it, because that makes it worse.
